Program Overview

GMAT

IHL offers elite GMAT tutoring for aspiring business school students. We have been providing GMAT preparation services since 2004. Our program is effective, comprehensive, and custom-tailored to the needs of each student. We use in-house materials, officially released GMAT exams, as well as an ever-evolving list of third-party sources. Since we do not rely exclusively on proprietary materials, we are able to cherry-pick the best materials from as many sources as possible to augment our curriculum.

I studied under one of IHL’s most senior GMAT tutors and I cannot say enough great things about the program and my tutor. He wrote the book IHL uses to teach the exam and his knowledge and expertise were second to none. If you want to break into the 700s and get into a top business school, IHL is the best place to start.

GMAT Process

To get started, complete a brief contact form. Our Chief of Staff Alex Kopko will contact you to discuss your goals and needs and get you started with a more detailed enrollment form

Generally, the preparation process begins with a diagnostic exam that you will take at home. Along with these results, we also consider factors such as learning style, learning disabilities, budget, strengths, weaknesses and goals before matching you with a tutor best suited to your individual needs.

You can work with a junior, senior or chair-level tutor. Once you have been placed with a tutor, he or she will contact you to schedule your first session. While all of our tutors are fluent in IHL’s proven teaching methodologies, they are also flexible, dynamic educators who are able to adapt to a wide variety of individual learning styles.
Our tutors work around your schedule and can meet in person at one of our offices or remotely via Skype or Zoom. The majority of our students meet remotely, and we have found it to be as effective as in-person consultation. The length of sessions, number of sessions, and frequency of sessions is up to you! Average sessions are 2 hours in length, twice a week, for three to four months leading up to a GMAT administration.
Outside of tutoring sessions, you should expect to dedicate a significant amount of time to session review, homework, practice exams and other drills.

Questions About GMAT Prep

We typically advise students to dedicate at least three to four months to the preparation process, although we are happy to begin working with you at any point leading up to your test.
Tutoring is billed on an hourly basis and the rate depends on the tutor’s seniority level. There is no minimum number of tutoring hours required to enroll with IHL. Our coursepacks and other materials are billed separately. Contact our Chief of Staff, Alex Kopko, to discuss your options.
Wherever you are in the world, you can take advantage of our program. GMAT tutoring is available in-person at our offices in New York City or Ann Arbor, or remotely via Skype, Zoom, FaceTime or other videoconferencing platforms. The majority of our students study with us remotely, and we have found it to be as effective as in-person consultation.
The foundation of IHL’s business model is client service and sophisticated advice. IHL does not take a cookie-cutter approach to working with students. We believe that an individualized plan and mutual trust are necessary for any effective tutoring and mentoring relationship. IHL works with only 100 to 200 students a year, to ensure that we maintain our high level of service and intimate client focus. We take a team-based approach to everything we do.
